Alexandre Boucher, PhD

Founder of Advanced Resources and Risk Technology

Dr. Boucher founded AR2Tech in 2010 with the goal of distributing state-of-the-art geostatistical algorithms to clients and to the geomodeling community. After having spent three years conducting research and teaching geostatistics at Stanford University, he saw the needs for a nimble organization that could bring the best and the latest algorithms to the industries through software and consulting.

Significant time and effort were devoted during the first years at AR2tech to modernize, upgrade and expand the geostatistical open-source software SGeMS into a flexible platform capable to accommodate difficult geomodeling problems. Dr. Boucher programming skills combined with his deep knowledge of both classical and modern geostatistics allows for elegant solutions to complex geospatial problems that may not be found anywhere else. He is an expert in conditional simulation, data integration and risk assessment.

Dr. Boucher received his PhD in geostatistics from Stanford University, an MPhil from the University of Queensland in mining geostatistics and a degree in geological engineering from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal. He was Acting Assistant Professor at Stanford University from 2007 to 2010 where he taught geostatistics. He is a developer of the SGeMS open source geostatistical software and co-authored the book Applied Geostatistics with SGeMS. He has published more than 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals and proceedings and has been speaker at various conferences. He is currently consulting professor at the Energy Resources Engineering department at Stanford University.
